Statement from the international office of Worker-communist Party of Iran-Hekmatist
Stop the Mass Expulsion of Afghan Migrants from Iran!
The Islamic Republic of Iran is waging a vicious campaign of mass deportation against Afghan migrants and asylum seekers—a campaign drenched in racism, repression, and sheer inhumanity. With the full might of its military and intelligence forces, the regime has launched a fascist assault, setting a July 6 deadline for undocumented Afghans to leave the country. Cloaked in the language of war and the tired lie of “fighting spies,” this campaign is nothing short of state-sponsored ethnic cleansing.
In the span of a year, nearly one million Afghans—workers, children, families—have been driven out of Iran. Half of them were expelled in the last month alone. This is not policy; it is a crime. Workers are being snatched from their job sites. Children are ripped from school desks. Pregnant women are dragged from hospital beds. These people are treated not as humans but as disposable—cast outs without rights, without defence, without a voice.
At the border, the nightmare continues. Migrants face beatings, extortion, confiscation of wages and belongings. Torture is routine. And when they manage to cross, they are met with the Taliban’s own brutal machinery. There is no food, no medicine, no shelter. International organizations are sounding the alarm about an impending humanitarian catastrophe—but the regime doesn’t care.
This is not just an attack on Afghan migrants. It is an attack on the working class. It is an attack on humanity. The Islamic Republic, like its Western counterparts, scapegoats migrants to cover for its own deep crisis—its economic collapse, its political failures, its fear of an awakened and angry population. It tries to turn the most oppressed into enemies, so it can avoid answering to the people it has robbed, starved, and silenced.
But even in the darkest hour, solidarity rises. In Zahedan, Baluchistan, and cities across Iran, workers and ordinary people are resisting. They are offering shelter. They are providing aid. They are standing shoulder to shoulder with the persecuted. This is the face of true humanity. This is the future we fight for.
We call on labour unions, leftist and socialist parties, and every freedom-loving person across the globe: raise your voice. Condemn this brutal campaign. Demand an immediate end to the expulsion of Afghan migrants from Iran. Now is the time to act. Let us unite across borders, stand against fascism, and defend the rights and dignity of all workers—everywhere.
